Georgia law requires that the Board of Education approve a tentative budget prior to considering and approving the final budget. The tentative budget is based on preliminary revenue figures from state and local sources. The budget can and may be amended before the final version is up for approval by the Board. Due to the countywide reassessment currently taking place in Tift County adjustments and amendments are possible depending on the revenue figures received.
While some of the salary increases are recommended by the state, the final decision regarding salaries for all staff in Tift County lies with the Superintendent and the Board. Our Board is very happy to not only pass along the increases recommended by the state but also advocate for and approve increases for all staff.
The FY25 Tentative Budget is available to view under the Public Review section of our website. The Final Budget will be voted on at the June Board of Education meeting.
