BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

The May Board Work Session included a presentation of a facility update, HR Update, Legislative Update, and information about our system's school climate ratings as well as our financial efficiency star rating.

The Board received information about our monthly financial report, the FY26 Tentative Budget, and several policies were recommended for 30 day public review and comment.

2025-2026 Tentative Budget

STUDENT AND STAFF RECOGNITION

CTI
Tift County High School’s CTI program, part of our CTAE offerings, was recently named the Georgia CTI Outstanding School of the Year at the 2025 State Conference. Our students also excelled in their individual competitions: Sierra Denson won first place in Catering/Food Table Set‑Up and Jacob Browning earned first place in Law, Public Safety, and Corrections. Tamarah Dorsey placed second in Early Childhood Education, Nick Castleberry placed second in Floriculture, Gabriel Daniels placed second in Technology Skills, JD Griffin took third place in Woodworking, and the team of Ayden Hall and Ely Cooper secured second place in Team Career Skills. We are also proud to recognize several special honors bestowed on our students. Ayden Hall received the Georgia CTI Outstanding Senior Scholarship in the amount of $600. Gabriel Daniels was elected Treasurer and Nick Castleberry was elected Historian for the 2025–2026 Georgia CTI State Officer team. Their advisor, Duran Paulk, has provided remarkable leadership and unwavering support throughout this journey. Congratulations to all of our students and advisors for their hard work and outstanding achievements.

The Beyond the T Award recognizes individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the success of our students, staff and community.

Jenny Varnadoe and Larry Howard were recognized as going BEYOND THE T for their vigilance and quick action in responding to a potential intrusion on our network. Their proactive response prevented a network breach that originated from Russia during Spring Break.

Mims Kids, Inc., represented by Judge Larry Mims and M J Hall, was presented with a Beyond the T award for their generosity and service to the students of Tift County and the community. They most recently hosted their annual Easter Egg Hunt for the students in our adapted curriculum classes. The resources that this organization pours into Tift County makes a difference in the lives of countless children.
